Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Learn more about Bluewater Medical before your visit

Q: How is a naturopathic doctor different than a medical doctor?

A: Like MDs, naturopathic doctors go to 4 years of medical school, pass rigorous state board examinations, and are licensed primary care doctors in the state of Washington.  Dr. Stirrett underwent a 1 year residency in family medicine post graduation.

Naturopathic doctors believe in treating the root cause of disease and using the least harmful means possible to stimulate the innate healing response that each of us possess.  Dr. Stirrett utilizes lifestyle medicine, clinical nutrition, herbal supplements, hormone replacement, and regenerative medical therapies in his practice.  He prescribes pharmaceutical medications only when necessary, as a last line of defense.  His goal is to get you off your medications, get out of pain, and look and feel your best.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: We do provide super-bills to your insurance company for partial or full reimbursement.  We are a cash only practice and do not bill insurance directly. Many of our patients do get reimbursed for naturopathic medical services.  Click Here to find out more info!

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept debit and all major credit cards.  We also accept HSA and FSA accounts.  Payment in full is required at the time of each appointment or service.

Q: How much does laboratory work cost?

A: Labs are covered by all US providers except Medicare.  Please have your insurance card at the time of your visit.  *NOTE: We work with several specialty labs with fair pricing for people without insurance. The necessity for these labs will be discussed with the doctor

Q: Is there a cancellation policy?

A: We do ask that if you need to cancel your appointment that you do so with at least 48 hours notice prior to your appointment.  Appointments cancelled with the 48 hour window or no shows will result in a fee equal to the office visit charge.  Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis for emergent situations.
